Prof. Jajati K. Pattnaik

Jajati K. Pattnaik is a Professor at the Centre for West Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His teaching experience spans over 28 years.

 Prof. Pattnaik has authored numerous articles in edited volumes, academic journals, magazines, weeklies, and dailies on both national and international affairs. The prominent among them are South Asian Diaspora (Routledge), Diaspora Studies (Brill), India Quarterly (Sage), and Economic & Political Weekly (Scopus). His book on Saudi Arabia is an important work that discusses Saudi political institutions and processes from a theoretical perspective.

Prof. Pattnaik has extensive publications in Pioneer, Observer of Business and Politics, Sunday Mail, Financial Express, Diplomatist, Asian Affairs, Mainstream, and World Focus, covering a wide range of topics. He regularly writes for CNN-News18 and Firstpost, and comments on international affairs on national and regional television channels. He has made significant contributions to international relations, particularly in Gulf politics, geoeconomics, and border studies. He has been acting as a referee for Sage, Routledge, and Economic and Political Weekly, among other international journals.  Moreover, he has served on the Editorial Board of the International Studies Journal, published by Sage Publications.

 He has served as an Associate at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Rastrapati Nivas, Shimla and as a visiting scholar at the Gulf Studies Programme, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is a life member of the International Centre for Peace Studies, Indian Political Science Association, North East India Political Science Association and North East India Council for Social Science Research.

His areas of expertise include Comparative Politics (Globalisation & Development Studies), International Relations & Foreign Policy, West Asian Studies,  Transnational Connectivity and  Border Studies.
